How Does An Indoor Sealer Work?

How To Apply Indoor Floor Sealer

Here is how to apply an indoor sealer.

Step 1: Clear The Room

First, clear the room of any equipment or fixtures that might get in the way. Make sure that you work from the most distant parts of the room back to convenient entry points.

Step 2: Clean The Room

Next, clear away anything that could prevent the sealer from doing its job. Remove dirt, dust and cobwebs. If cleaning with water, allow time for it to dry.

Step 3: Cordon Off The Area

You don’t want people stepping on your brick, stone or concrete while applying sealer — cordon off the area in advance.

Step 4: Remove Oil And Grease

If there’s oil and grease on your flooring, remove it before applying the indoor brick sealer. Use specialist degreasing products, if necessary.

Step 5: Repair Any Damage To The Flooring

After that, check the flooring for cracks and holes. If you find any, make sure that you fill them with replacement material. The floor needs to be flat and free from damage to ensure that the indoor sealer works correctly.

Step 6: Apply The Indoor Sealer To The Floor

Once you’ve cleaned and repaired the floor, it’s time to apply the sealer. Start by pouring the sealer into an application tray. Then spread evenly over the floor according to the manufacturer’s instructions. An indoor concrete sealer may require you to use a roller, squeegee or spray.

Step 7: Let The Sealer Cure

Finally, allow the product time to cure before allowing any traffic back into the room. Do not let heavy machinery to roll over the floor before the curing process finishes.

Can You Use A Floor Sealer If There Is Damp?

If your flooring has a damp issue, then you can buy special indoor sealers that help to tackle it. Many of these sealers require you to apply two coats instead of one.
