Indoor sealer is essential for keeping your floors in good condition, whether concrete, limestone or brick.
Sealers are special floor coatings that create a protective surface.
Applying a layer of sealant helps to protect the flooring in several ways. First, it makes it more resistant to abrasion. Continual foot traffic or movement of indoor vehicles can damage floors over time. An indoor brick sealer helps property owners fight back against this depreciation. It protects the material beneath, stopping wear and tear in its tracks.
Secondly, the sealer also helps to keep water and grime at bay. Many floor materials, like concrete, stone, and brick, are porous. Water and microorganisms can get into the material and damage it. Sealers help to keep both of these out, ensuring that the flooring lasts longer.
Here is how to apply an indoor sealer.
First, clear the room of any equipment or fixtures that might get in the way. Make sure that you work from the most distant parts of the room back to convenient entry points.
Next, clear away anything that could prevent the sealer from doing its job. Remove dirt, dust and cobwebs. If cleaning with water, allow time for it to dry.
You don’t want people stepping on your brick, stone or concrete while applying sealer — cordon off the area in advance.
If there’s oil and grease on your flooring, remove it before applying the indoor brick sealer. Use specialist degreasing products, if necessary.
After that, check the flooring for cracks and holes. If you find any, make sure that you fill them with replacement material. The floor needs to be flat and free from damage to ensure that the indoor sealer works correctly.
Once you’ve cleaned and repaired the floor, it’s time to apply the sealer. Start by pouring the sealer into an application tray. Then spread evenly over the floor according to the manufacturer’s instructions. An indoor concrete sealer may require you to use a roller, squeegee or spray.
Finally, allow the product time to cure before allowing any traffic back into the room. Do not let heavy machinery to roll over the floor before the curing process finishes.
If your flooring has a damp issue, then you can buy special indoor sealers that help to tackle it. Many of these sealers require you to apply two coats instead of one.
Concrete has different material properties than other hard flooring materials. We, therefore, recommend an indoor concrete sealer. Manufacturers formulate these sealers for use on concrete.
Just like, concrete, brick has specific properties that require a special type of sealer for optimal performance.
